We are sorry to say that today we said goodbye to Rick for six months (see video below). We are happy to report however that he will not be spending it in Iraq as was previously scheduled, but instead in South Korea. Hopefully, if we can hitch a military ride, we might even get to go visit him while he is there. We don't know what his communication situation will be yet but hopefully we'll be able to talk regularly, if not email. If he'd gone to Iraq we would have been limited to 2 morale calls a week, put through by the base operator. Korea should be much better. Not sure this will work, but here's a recent Stars and Stripes article about Rick's deployment: http://www.stripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=60935
Rick, by the way, has been able to enjoy a ride or two in those planes and as the 13th's flight doc, is looking forward to a few more should the Air Force be able to send him back to the states for further training. If he is sent back it would be for a fairly quick trip most likely but we'll keep you posted should there be room for a visit or two.
Hopefully we'll hear from Rick in a day or two and have some news on his situation in Korea. Stay tuned!
